Embedding
A numerical representation of text, images, or other data that captures semantic meaning in a continuous vector space.
In more detail
Embeddings convert discrete items (words, documents, images) into vectors of real numbers. Embeddings capture semantic relationships - similar items have similar vectors. Used for similarity search, clustering, and as inputs to ML models. Examples: Word2Vec, GloVe, BERT embeddings.
Examples
- Word embeddings in language models
- Image embeddings for similarity search
- Document embeddings for semantic search
- Semantic similarity comparison
