What is AGI?
Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) refers to AI systems that can understand, learn, and apply knowledge across any intellectual task that a human can do — without being specifically programmed for each task.
Current AI (including GPT-4, Claude, Gemini) is considered narrow AI or ANI — extremely capable within specific domains but lacking the general reasoning, transfer learning, and common sense that characterizes human intelligence.
AGI vs Current AI
Current AI (2026): Can write code, analyze documents, generate images, have conversations. But each capability requires specific training. GPT-4 can't learn to ride a bicycle from watching a video.
